This purpose mandated by the founder Mrs. Nuria Pla derives directly from her intention of continuing the work of his father, Dr. Ramón Pla Armengol, who was an eminent pneumologist and co-founder with the veterinarian Joaquín Ravetllat, of the “Instituto Ravetllat-Pla”. This entity focused all its efforts in the study and research of pharmaceutical products against tuberculosis, such as the Serum and the Hemo-Antitoxin Ravetllat-Pla, that despite his heterodoxy, had good acceptance among the medical community of the time, and to export them to more than 20 countries through the promotion of an excellent network and a good corporate governance led by Nuria Pla after the civil war
Although tuberculosis is a disease which fortunately has declined considerably, there are today a number of other severe pulmonary diseases affecting a large number of population that are currently under investigation in the medical centers. Undoubtedly, had Dr. Pla lived in our times, he would have worked in this field of medicine that the Foundation aims to support and encourage.
