SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF A DISTANT COMMUNITY, TAHEN, CAMBODIA
Our Foundation has strongly supported the excellent work done by Jesuit fathers in Asia, especially in Cambodia, a country ravaged by civil wars and which in the late 1990s achieved a democratic regime conducive to socio-economic development. Specifically, this care work has been carried out by the Catholic community of Tahen and the people in general from which education and sport are encouraged through the creation of nursery schools, primary and secondary schools, the creation of reception centers, donations of university scholarships, English language learning, computer science and agriculture classes.
Rural development is also encouraged to serve as the basis for the support of the community itself through the promotion of employment through activities such as agriculture, artisanal weaving and sewing etc. all this accompanied by an incessant pastoral activity and a continuous training in Christian values in favour of the components of the Christian community of Tahen and the entire people in the community in collaboration with other denominations.
